Neil Taylor is nearing a return from his broken ankle and hopes to feature for Swansea before the end of the season.

Swansea City defender Neil Taylor has outlined his hopes of returning to Premier League action before the end of the season.

The Welsh international full-back has been sidelined since September with a broken ankle sustained in the 2-2 draw with Sunderland.

An original diagnosis predicted that Taylor would miss the rest of Swansea's campaign, but his recovery has been quicker than expected.

The 24-year-old is scheduled to rejoin training next week and hopes that, after a couple of run-outs for the reserves, he will be available for first-team selection before the 2012-13 campaign is over.

"I want to slowly integrate myself back in the squad, pick a reserve game and see where we go from there," Taylor told Wales Online. "We've got quite a few reserve games in March, so it's a case of getting fit and see how many minutes I need.

"It's a big boost but I'm still not going to get ahead of myself. I want to see how I react in training and play 20, 30, 40 minutes. These are all hurdles I have to cross, and once I do I'll declare myself ready to be selected for a matchday.

"I've got to see how it goes but the idea is to play some Premier League games before the end of the season."

Taylor, who was a part of Team GB's football squad at the London 2012 Olympics, joined the Swans from Wrexham in 2010.
