Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup has admitted that he wanted to sign striker Romelu Lukaku before his move to Everton.
Several clubs were in the running for the Belgium international, but were rebuffed by Chelsea before they eventually allowed him to join the Toffees on transfer deadline day.
Laudrup told Sky Sports News: "We asked about him. I didn't call again because Chelsea said they wanted to keep him, but maybe I should have called again.
"He is a real talent. He is fast, can use both feet, he is strong, he is good in the air and is good on the counter-attack. He has been a huge signing for them."
Laudrup faces Lukaku and Everton on Sunday.
