Roque Mesa was left out of the Swansea City squad for their FA Cup fourth-round tie against Notts County amid reports linking the midfielder with a return to Spain.
The 28-year-old, who arrived at the Liberty Stadium from Las Palmas for £11m last summer, has made 11 Premier League appearances for the Swans, starting nine games.
However, Mesa has only played in one league game since Carlos Carvalhal was appointed manager in December 2017 and was omitted from the squad that travelled to Meadow Lane on Saturday.
The Spaniard is believed to be frustrated with his lack of first-team involvement at the Welsh club and considering a loan switch to Sevilla.
According to Sky Sports News, Swansea may be willing to let Mesa leave as they already have a packed midfield and could free up their wage bill to sign a forward.
Sevilla are sixth in the La Liga table, and have reached the Copa del Rey semi-finals after beating Atletico Madrid in the last eight.
