Sports Mole brings you live commentary as Stuart Pearce's Team GB take on a highly rated Brazil side in a friendly this evening.
Sports Mole

Good evening and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage of Team GB's friendly encounter against Brazil at the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough.

It would be fair to say that Stuart Pearce's side will not face many sterner tests than the one in front of them this evening.

Brazil head into next week's Olympic Games as one of the favourites to claim gold in the men's football competition, along with world and European champions Spain.

Meanwhile, Team GB will be looking to iron out any creases as the start of the Games draws ever nearer.

21.41Thanks for joining us this evening. Hopefully GB will provide better results when it matters! Goodnight!

21.39That's a wrap! Easy is the word that comes to mind. Brazil cruised throughout the 90 minutes and could have scored even more had they wanted to. They will be hot favourites to win gold now, although Spain may have something to say about that. Positives for GB were the liveliness of Sinclair and Butland between the sticks.

21.38RESULT: GB 0-2 BRAZIL

90+1 minAnd again Butland is on hand to deny Brazil. This time Pato heads goalwards but the Birmingham stopper tips over.

90 minThree minutes of stoppage time.

90 minCracking save from Butland. A move involving Ganso, Lucas and Neymar ends with the latter drilling in what looked like a certain goal. Butland has other ideas though and he throws himself to his right to turn the shot wide.

88 minNice flick from Sordell releases Sinclair. However, the Swansea winger hesitates and the chance is snuffed out. A rare goalscoring chance for GB wasted.

85 minBrazil sub again. Sandro comes off to be replaced by Danilo.

84 minThis has turned into a training match. Brazil have taken the foot of the gas, while GB have run out of ideas to put it bluntly.

81 minAlmost for Neymar as the young striker flashes a shot across Butland's goal.

79 minAnother Brazil sub - Marcelo off, Alex Sandro on.

77 minLucas, who is looking bright, squares the ball to Neymar, but the striker curls the ball into the hands of Butland. Good break from the Brazilians.

74 minWhen Neymar does finally swing the ball in Taylor lobs the ball clear.

74 minFurther delays to the corner as Craig Dawson takes the place of Richards.

73 minLucas jinks his way into the box and wins a corner following a sliding challenge from Cork. Before it is taken, Alexandre Pato replaces Damiao...

71 minAll the substitutions have disrupted the flow of the game, well Brazil's flow anyway! Britain are yet to find any sort of rhythm.

68 minCalling Manchester United fans. Your reported transfer target Lucas Moura has replaced Oscar, while Ganso takes the place of an impressive Hulk.

67 min...which comes to nothing.

66 minSinclair has looked bright since he came on. He has given Rafael something to think about. Slightly surprised he didn't start to be honest. Meanwhile, Brazil have a corner...

63 minAnd Bellamy leaves the field with Sordell taking his place.

63 minHere come those changes - Ramsey for skipper Giggs.

61 minAnother corner for the Brazilians as Caulker clears a low cross from Hulk...

60 minAaron Ramsey and Marvin Sordell preparing to come for GB. Tom Cleverley and Craig Bellamy to come off perhaps?

59 minMore possession for GB. You get the impression that is more to do with Brazil dropping down the gears though. They are working nowhere near as hard as they did in the first half to get the ball back.

56 minWhat a save! Okay, Bellamy was offside, but goalkeeper Barbosa pulls off a great save from close range after Rose had drilled in a cross. Still GB seeking a shot on target.

55 minGB enjoying some rare possession at the moment. However, they're not giving you the impression that they are going to carve out chances with it.

53 minFantastic movement from Brazil releases Hulk, who fires a shot straight at Butland. GB cannot cope with this.

50 minNeymar beats Neil Taylor twice, before cutting the ball back for Oscar. The soon-to-be Chelsea midfielder drills goalwards, but Butland is on hand to parry wide.

49 min...which Sandro glances wide. Good chance for the Spurs midfielder.

48 minHulk wins the first corner of the half for Brazil...

47 minBrazil have started the second half how they ended the first - in possession and creating chances.

46 minTottenham defender Stephen Caulker has also entered the fray.

20.50Welcome back. Substitutions for GB. Scott Sinclair, Jack Cork and Jack Butland are all on.

20.38Would you like some half-time reading? Of course you would! Our very own Jack Prescott has written this report of the opening 45 minutes. Pleasant reading if your Brazilian.

20.36I'll be back shortly to bring you the second half. Stay tuned!

20.35And that's the half up. Easy for Brazil in truth, too easy at times. Some slick, samba style football from the Yellows. GB have a lot of work to do if they are to get back in this game. My guess would be that Brazil will add to their tally, providing they want to.

20.33HALF-TIME: GB 0-2 BRAZIL

45 minOne minute of stoppage time to be played. The break can't come soon enough for GB.

43 minClose again for Brazil. Rafael pulls the ball across for Neymar, whose shot is deflected just over by Richards.

43 minMarcelo plays in Hulk who lashes the ball into the side netting. I for one thought that had gone in! Clever ever from the Porto man.

42 min...which predictably comes to nothing. The skipper's deliveries this evening have been poor.

41 minChance for Britain here from a free-kick as Sandro brings down Cleverley. Looks like Giggs will take...

39 minSome really lovely football being played by Brazil here. GB are chasing shadows. This could really be any scoreline Brazil want it to be.

37 min...which Bertrand clears. Britain are hanging on at the moment.

36 minHulk and Neymar link neatly with the latter firing straight at Steele. Corner to Brazil...

35 minExtremely composed penalty from the Santos striker who beats Steele down to his right from 12 yards.

34 minGOAL! GB 0-2 Brazil (Neymar)

34 minHulk goes past Richards with ease and as the Man City man tries to recover he brings the striker down. Stone wall penalty. Neymar to take...

33 minPENALTY TO BRAZIL

33 minAn astonishing stat from Grant Wahl on Twitter concerning Neymar: "Ryan Giggs made his top-flight debut for Manchester United 11 months before Neymar was born."

32 min...and miraculously he is up! Back to football thankfully.

31 minNeymar still receiving treatment...

30 minHe may be a great player but that doesn't stop Neymar throwing himself to the ground following a challenge with Bertrand. Nothing in that at all. The striker is still on the floor clutching his head.

29 minHalf a chance for Damiao as Rafael sends over a cross, but the striker is heading away from goal and his effort goes over the bar.

27 minDanny Rose is first to it and hacks Hulk's cross out for a throw.

27 minNow it's Brazil's turn to have a corner, which is won by Man United full-back Rafael.

27 minIt's taken short but the trio of Giggs, Sturridge and Allen lose possession and Brazil have a throw.

26 minAnother corner for Team GB. Can they get this one right?

24 min...Richard is again on the end of it and the Man City man leaps well. However, his header is misguided and the ball flies harmlessly wide of goal.

23 minBellamy wins a corner for Team GB. Giggs to take again...

22 minIt's very hard for GB to keep hold of the ball at the moment. Brazil are hunting in packs and regaining possession rather easily at the moment.

21 minLedley King on Twitter: "Our boy Sandro's just scored for Brazil, well done matey, save em for the new season :)"

20 minNeymar is playing quite deep for the Brazilian side here. He's dropping in to get the ball from the defenders and moving forward. Team GB don't seem to know what to do about that at the moment.

17 minFormer England international Danny Mills discussing the Brazil goal on BBC Sport: "That's appalling defending in my eyes. Two or three times there have been communication problems between Tomkins and Micah Richards. That time, Tomkins had no idea where Sandro was, it was a decent ball in but nothing special, and the ball looped over into the far corner. Stuart Pearce will be absolutely furious with that."

14 min...which Richards meets well at the back post. However, none of his teammates are following in and the danger is cleared.

13 minDangerous play from Marcelo, who hacks down Sturridge. That would have been a booking in a competitive match. Giggs to take the free-kick...

12 minClever goal from the Brazilians. With the GB team expecting a shot, Neymar bends in a cross from the free-kick for Sandro at the back post. The Tottenham Hotspur man stoops to lift his header over Jason Steele in goal and into the net.

11 minGOAL! GB 0-1 Brazil (Sandro)

11 minFree-kick for Brazil as Tom Cleverley brings down Oscar 30-odd yards from goal...

10 minBrazil beginning to dominate the possession now and they look comfortable with it.

9 minDamiao is almost in for Brazil, but he is flagged offside. Some big gaps appearing between British centre-backs Tomkins and Micah Richards.

6 minWatch him score a hat-trick now!

6 minDear oh dear oh dear Mr Neymar! The highly rated striker capitalises on some hesitation from James Tomkins but fires horribly over from 12 yards out. 50m they say he's worth!

5 minSturridge, who is heavily involved at the moment, has the first shot of the game from distance which sails over the bar.

4 minGood work from Sturridge, who beats his marker to get to the byline. However, his cross is slightly over-hit and the danger is clear. Good start from Team GB this.

3 min...But skipper Giggs can only find the first man. Disappointing from the Manchester United man.

2 minRyan Bertrand wins Team GB a corner...

1 minSome composed touches from GB's Joe Allen in his own half. The midfielder had a really good season with Swansea City and deserves his slot in this squad.

19.47Brazil get us underway...

19.46Quick word between Chelsea's Sturridge and Oscar - wonder what they were discussing?!

19.45Some quick words from GB coach Pearce, who was talking to BBC Sport: "This really is a marker ahead of the Senegal game. The main objective is to get the whole squad fit and ready for that game. Daniel Sturridge will be fine. He has shown in training he is at it and on the back of that we have given him a start up front in his favourite position. How he is tomorrow morning will be important. This game is the biggest test we could have. Brazil are favourites and rightly so judging by the squad. We will come out of this game the better for it, no matter what happens."

19.44God Save the Queen strikes up and unsurprisingly there is nothing from the Welsh players in the lineup, including skipper Giggs.

19.42Anthems first - over to you Brazil.

19.41Here come the players, led by captains Ryan Giggs and Thiago Silva. Almost game time.

19.40Here's a sobering statistic. Every single member of the Brazil side has at least one senior cap. The majority have more than that!

19.37Moving away from the football just for one minute, anybody watching the BBC's coverage, have you seen Robbie Savage's trousers?! I've tried adjusting the settings on my TV, but it turns out they are shockingly bright red! Taxi for Savage!

19.35And one final player to watch (like they need another) is Oscar, with Chelsea fans sure to be particularly excited about his appearance. The attacking midfielder is thought to be closing to joining the Blues for a fee of 25m. Will he live up to all the hype?!

19.34Not forgetting Neymar, who has been attracting interest from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid over the past few years.

19.32Have to say that Brazil lineup looks rather tasty. Premier League followers will already be aware of the likes of Rafael and Sandro, while Marcelo, Thiago Silva and Hulk provide plenty of experience.

19.30Our very own Jack Prescott has the rest of the team news covered for you here.

19.29Let's start with some really positive news for the British team. Having recovered from viral meningitis, Chelsea frontman Daniel Sturridge will play in attack.

19.25They're not exactly easing themselves in either! In what is their first friendly encounter of note, Stuart Pearce's side are taking on Brazil - one of the favourites to claim the gold medal at the upcoming London Games.

19.23Evening all! Well, well, well - a GB football team competing at the Olympics! Who'd have thought it?
