Torquay United have recorded their sixth successive win by beating Dover Athletic by a 2-0 scoreline at Plainmoor.
After a slow start to the game, Dover wasted a couple of headed chances in quick succession as both Chris Kinnear and Tom Bonner failed to find the target.
However, Torquay slowly began to find their feet, and after Luke Young had seen his 25-yard strike hit the crossbar, they took the lead through Aaron Downes who was well placed to prod home from a corner.
Angus MacDonald almost doubled his side's advantage shortly before the interval but his close-range header was well kept out by Andy Rafferty.
Dover ended the first half on the back foot, but they dominated the opening exchanges of the second half as Torquay began to look vulnerable at the back, and Ricky Miller might have done better when he poked wide from inside the penalty area.
However, the South Coast club should have sealed the points with 17 minutes remaining when Ryan Bowman was sent through on goal, but after seeing his first shot saved, he hit the rebound against the near post.
After Dover had threatened an equaliser, Torquay confirmed victory in added-on time when Connor Essam put through his own net as the home side extended their unbeaten run to nine games.
