Uruguay Under-20s beat Spain to book their place in the U20 World Cup semi-finals.

Uruguay Under-20s have scored a winner in extra time to defeat Spain and reach the semi-finals of the U20 World Cup.

Spain started the game in typical fashion, dominating the possession and passing crisply, but it was Uruguay who created the first real chance of the match.

Gianni Rodriguez whipped in a teasing ball towards the lurking Giorgian de Arrascaeta, but the latter's header ended up off target.

Spain then nearly took the lead in bizarre circumstances as Gerard Deulofeu's corner had so much curl that it rattled the crossbar.

Midway through the half Oliver Torres showed some magic, taking on three players before threading through Deulofeu, who sliced his finish wide.

In the second half Oliver again had a big impact and worked a chance for himself inside four minutes, but his effort was kept out down low by De Amores.

With less than 20 minutes remaining, Deulofeu picked out Paco Alcacer with a fine cross, but his header went over the bar.

The match opened up in the last 10 minutes but neither side were able to break the deadlock and it went to extra time.

Despite Spain's dominance in possession, it was Uruguay who struck the killer blow, De Arrascaeta finding Avenatti with a cross and the substitute heading in.
