FIFA vice president Jim Boyce has revealed that football's governing body will take "whatever disciplinary action is deemed necessary" following Luis Suarez's alleged bite on Giorgio Chiellini.
The Uruguay striker, who has already been found guilty twice before of biting an opponent, was caught seemingly sinking his teeth into the Italian defender in his side's 1-0 victory on Tuesday evening.
"There is no doubt Luis Suarez is a fantastic footballer but, once again, his actions have left him open to severe criticism," Boyce is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "FIFA must investigate the incident seriously and take whatever disciplinary action is deemed necessary."
Suarez was handed a 10-game ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic last year, while he was also banned for seven matches in 2010 for the same offence when playing for Ajax.
