Former Italy international Alessandro Nesta has said that FIFA was right to ban Luis Suarez for four months following his bite on Giorgio Chiellini in the World Cup.
The Liverpool forward was suspended for nine matches and banned for four months from any football-related activity on Wednesday for his part in the incident that happened during Uruguay's 1-0 win over Italy.
"I used to believe that spitting at another opponent was the worst thing you can do, but biting someone goes beyond," he told Goal.com.
"You can think that something is definitely the worst, and then you discover there's always something worse. I think it's the right sanction for him."
Suarez will miss nine Premier League games for Liverpool and will not be available for the club until their meeting with Newcastle United on November 1.
