USA striker Jozy Altidore appears unlikely to play again at the 2014 World Cup after being stretchered off with an apparent hamstring injury against Ghana on Monday.
The Sunderland striker pulled up in the 23rd minute chasing a ball into the corner, and was unable to get back to his feet before being replaced by Aron Johannsson.
Should Altidore be ruled out of the rest of the tournament, it would be a major blow to manager Jurgen Klinsmann, who has regularly chosen the 24-year-old to spearhead his attack.
Altidore only managed one Premier League goal for the Black Cats last season after signing from AZ Alkmaar, but has been more prolific for the US, scoring 20 times in 71 international appearances.
