Valencia head coach Nuno has suggested that his side were punished for their mistakes against Zenit St Petersburg this evening, but that they will reach the knockout stage of the Champions League.
Goals from Oleg Shatov and Artem Dyzuba gave Andre Villas-Boas's Zenit side a 2-0 victory against the La Liga outfit, but Nuno - who is reportedly under pressure following his team's slow start to the domestic season - believes that his team will progress from Group H with a home win over Lyon on December 9.
"We competed but they penalised the mistake that we made," Nuno told reporters after the game.
"In the second half we had chances, the first especially, but we faced a team who took advantage of their chances and our mistakes.
"I'm convinced that, at the Mestalla, we're not going to fail."
Valencia are currently third in Group H, and will need Zenit to win their away clash with Gent next month if they are to qualify to the knockout stages.
