Goals from Ricardo Costa and Roberto Soldado help 10-man Valencia overcome Mallorca at the Mestalla.

Ten-man Valencia regained fifth place in the La Liga table on Sunday evening courtesy of a hard-fought win over Mallorca at the Mestalla.

Ricardo Costa and Roberto Soldado secured the three points for Valencia with second-half goals, after Tino Costa had been shown a straight red card on 28 minutes for a reckless challenge on Tomas Pina.

Valencia broke the deadlock on the hour mark, as Costa nodded home from Sergio Canales's corner kick.

Soldado made sure of the win nine minutes from time, when he fired low into the net from 15 yards, after collecting Daniel Parejo's precise pass.
