Valenciennes and Nancy have played out a goalless draw at Stade du Hainaut in Ligue 1.
Visitors Nancy created the first chance of the match in the seventh minute when Benjamin Moukandjo took an attempt on goal after being released by Lossemy Karaboue, but goalkeeper Nicolas Penneteau made a good save.
Paul Alo'o Efoulou also went close for the visitors in the 19th minute with a header from Florent Zitte's cross, but failed to keep it on target.
Moments later Thomas Mangani was denied by Penneteau, before Opa Nguette missed the target for Valenciennes from outside the box.
Nancy ended the first half the better of the two teams, but allowed Gael Danic, Younousse Sankhare and Gaetan Bong to try their luck for the hosts inside the opening 10 minutes of the second half.
Younousse Sankhare came close with a header just after the hour mark. Teammates Nguette and Lindsay Rose followed suit midway through the half, as Nancy were forced to go on the back foot.
However, Patrick Gabriel's side survived the pressure to earn a valuable point in their fight against relegation from the French top flight.
