Sevilla have held on for a 2-1 win over Villarreal in La Liga this afternoon, despite being reduced to 10 men late on.
The visitors made a bright start to the match, with Ivan Rakitic and Carlos Bacca both having shots within the opening 10 minutes.
Sevilla continued to pile on the pressure, and were able to get the breakthrough as Cala headed in from a Rakitic free kick.
The hosts pushed for a quick equaliser, as Javier Aquino drilled an effort wide before Manu Trigueros and Bruno both had attempts saved by Beto.
The Sevilla keeper had to remain sharp at the start of the second half as Mateo Musacchio tried to head in from a Hernan Perez delivery just three minutes after the restart, but once again Beto was able to hold on.
However, the visitors managed to double their lead against the run of play with 20 minutes left to play through a Bacca strike from the centre of the box.
Rakitic had a chance to kill off the game in the 80th minute, but his powerful shot from range was just high.
There was late hope for Villarreal as they were awarded a penalty with four minutes left to play, which saw Cala dismissed from his foul on Jaume Costa.
Jeremy Perbet converted from the spot, but the hosts could not find a second in stoppage time.
