Abiola Dauda scored a hat-trick as Vitesse recorded their first victory of the new Eredivisie season at the expense of SBV Excelsior this afternoon.
The Nigerian, who joined Vitesse in the summer from Red Star Belgrade, broke the deadlock five minutes before the break when he turned in a pass from Zakaria Labyad.
The home side continued to dominate proceedings after the restart and their pressure was rewarded in the 60th minute when Dauda claimed his second goal of the contest.
Dauda, 26, then completed his hat-trick just four minutes later to end any chance that the visitors had of collecting a share of the spoils.
SBV did manage to find the net in the 86th minute when Jeff Stans converted his effort from the penalty spot, but it proved to be just a consolation effort in a 3-1 defeat.
