Vitesse managed to gain a point from their Eredivisie clash with Groningen thanks to a late own goal from goalkeeper Sergio Padt.
It was the hosts who began the match on the front foot but, after Kevin Diks's effort was easily claimed by the goalkeeper, Groningen went up the other end and scored through Rasmus Lindgren, who converted from close range.
That opening goal encouraged the visitors, and Vitesse goalkeeper Eloy Room had to be alert to prevent Albert Rusnak's effort from finding the corner.
Shortly before the break, the home side should have found an equaliser, but on-loan Chelsea winger Bertrand Traore was denied by Padt.
The equaliser did not come until late into the second half, as Groningen's keeper put the ball into his own net with just 10 minutes remaining.
The 1-1 draw keeps Vitesse in fifth, six points behind third-placed Feyenoord, while Groningen stay in 11th.
