President of the Welsh Football Association Phil Pritchard has revealed that FIFA president Sepp Blatter and UEFA's Michel Platini have offered condolences following the untimely death of Wales manager Gary Speed.
The 42-year-old is believed to have committed suicide at his home in Cheshire yesterday morning.
"[Blatter and Platini] were absolutely devastated with the news when they heard it," said Pritchard. "They've offered their sincere condolences to us and asked to pass it on to the family.
"They said all the nice things that anyone would say about Gary, in the sense that it's a massive loss to Wales and all over the world people will appreciate the loss that we in Wales as a football family are now suffering.
"It's very nice to have these comments but it's so, so devastating that we have to face up to this."
The inquest into the Leeds United legend will open either today or tomorrow.
