Ashley Williams has revealed that Swansea City manager Garry Monk told Wales to haul the defender off at half time in Friday's international friendly against the Netherlands.
The 31-year-old played 45 minutes of Wales' 3-2 defeat to Danny Blind's side at Cardiff at the request of his club manager.
Williams has suggested that he was frustrated to have had his time on the pitch limited, but will always do what has been instructed.
"I am not sure what the plan was but the gaffer told me before the game I would be playing 45 minutes," The Express quotes Williams as saying. "I looked at him and saw it wasn't up for negotiation and accepted it.
"It is what it is, it was a friendly game but I am always going to come and represent my country. I do what I am told and on this occasion I was told I am coming off at half time. I don't know if it will do me good, we will see, hopefully."
The Swans will take on Bournemouth at the Liberty Stadium this weekend.
