Chris Coleman looks to avenge "darkest moment" of managerial career

Wales manager Chris Coleman is looking to avenge his side's 6-1 defeat at the hands of Serbia last year when the two sides meet again tomorrow night.

Wales boss Chris Coleman has described his side's 6-1 defeat at the hands of Serbia last year as one of the "darkest moments" in his managerial career.

Serbia thrashed Wales almost exactly a year ago with the likes of Aleksandar Kolarov and Branislav Ivanovic getting on the scoresheet for the home side in Novi Sad.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow night in the return fixture and, although any faint hopes Wales had of reaching the 2014 World Cup vanished with a 2-1 defeat to Macedonia on Friday, Coleman is still keen to finish as high as possible in the group.

"That was the darkest moment for me in charge of this country and possibly in my managerial career," Coleman told PA.

"It wasn't a good feeling but we have turned a corner since then and have done quite well since.

"They are a good team but it is still there for us to go and finish high in the group. It is up to me to keep our guys focused and try and do well."

Coleman's hopes of having Gareth Bale available for selection were given a boost today after the new Real Madrid winger took part in training having undergone a scan on his injured groin.
