Wales manager Chris Coleman hints that Joe Allen is likely to miss Sunday's World Cup qualifier with Georgia after picking up a hamstring injury.

Wales manager Chris Coleman has revealed that he expects Joe Allen to miss his side's World Cup qualifier with Georgia on Sunday.

The Stoke City midfielder gave Wales the lead during their 2-2 draw with Austria this evening, but was forced off after half time having picked up a hamstring injury.

The extent of the problem is not yet known, but Coleman stressed that he would not risk Allen if he is less than 100% fit.

"The way it is, we probably won't have Joe [in Cardiff]. But there are no excuses. Have we got enough to get a result on Sunday without Joe Allen? Yes, we have. So I won't make any excuses," he told reporters.

"He had a twinge in his hamstring, so that's why we took him off immediately. We'll assess him in the next 24-48 hours. He'll be scanned and it's how he reacts.

"If anything comes up on the scan, we wouldn't gamble with any of the players because it's not in our interests to do that. Joe belongs to Stoke City and we have to send him back in the condition that we received him. That's why we he came off."

Allen has now scored three goals in three consecutive games for club and country for the first time in his career.
