Watford manager Giuseppe Sannino admits that his side didn't do enough to beat Bristol City, though has complimented his players performance.

Watford manager Giuseppe Sannino praised his players following their draw against Bristol City in the third round of the FA Cup, though he has admitted that they didn't do enough to win the game.

The Hornets were held to a 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate following a Jay Emmanuel-Thomas equalising goal, just seconds after Sean Murray had given the away side the lead.

Despite seeing Watford take the lead late on, Sannino believes Bristol City deserved a draw.

"I want to compliment my players," the Italian said. "The main negative is we weren't able to capitalise on the lead we had.

"I think it was a fair result and we have to give credit to Bristol who played a good game - I think at the end 1-1 was a fair result.

"It's part of football - we weren't able to take advantage of the lead but I have to compliment Bristol because they deserved to equalise."

Watford return to league action on the weekend with a trip to the Madejski Stadium where they will face Reading.
