Watford striker Troy Deeney admits that he is elated to have penned a five-year to deal to remain at the club for the foreseeable future.

Watford captain Troy Deeney has revealed that he is delighted to have committed his future to the club after signing a new five-year deal at Vicarage Road.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Hornets over the past year, but the striker has reaffirmed his desire to remain at the club by penning his new contract to ensure he leads the line for them in their return to the Premier League.

He told the club's official website: "It's very pleasing. On a personal level it's perfect and it's worked out that we've been on a long journey over the last couple of years with the club, so to now finally get to the Premier League I feel like the journey's just starting and the possibilities are endless.

I'd like to think that my commitment [to this club] has never really been in question. I'm always putting in 100%, whether that be in training or in games, so it's more just a case of putting to bed all the rumours.

"You just have to look around the training ground to see the club's ambition, and the stadium is now making massive strides as well. First and foremost we want to stay in the Premier League this year, and if we can do that the possibilities after that are endless."

Deeney has scored 81 goals in 220 appearances for the Hornets.
