Marco Silva not getting carried away after bright Watford start

Watford boss Marco Silva says that his side "need to keep going" when they head to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, as he warns his players not to get too carried away.

Marco Silva has urged his Watford players to "keep their feet on the floor" following their impressive start to the Premier League campaign.

The Hornets find themselves fourth in the table after eight games, having lost just one of their top-flight fixtures since Silva replaced Walter Mazzarri at the Vicarage Road helm.

Watford have already been tipped by many to challenge for a European spot come the end of the season on the back of their 2-1 win over Arsenal, but the man at the helm insists that supporters and players cannot afford to get too carried away at this stage.

"It's too early - I want everyone at the club to keep their feet on the floor and to work hard every day to prepare the next match because in football everything changes too fast," he told reporters. "I want everyone to be calm. I think it is fair we are having these conversations because we did really well in our opening eight games.

"You need to keep going, to work hard and to think of each game like it's our most important. I feel pride when I see the way they worked in the last match. I saw the ambitions we had in that moment, when we scored the 1-1 against a big team like Arsenal. We didn't go back, we continued with our work and tried to achieve a better result for us."

Watford head to champions Chelsea for their next outing on Saturday evening, before then playing host to Stoke City on October 28.
