Watford closed the calendar year with a convincing victory over lowly Doncaster Rovers at Vicarage Road this afternoon.
Marvin Sordell scored a brace as the visitors ended the game with ten men after Herold Goulon was dismissed for a second booking midway through the second half.
Doncaster looked perhaps the brighter of the two from the start but were behind just before half time when England Under-21 international Sordell collected the ball on the halfway line and ran forward unchallenged before blasting low past Gary Woods.
Billy Sharp equalised two minutes into the second 45 by nodding home before Sordell restored the lead soon after Goulon's sending off.
John Eustace and Michael Kightly sealed the points in the final minutes as Dean Saunders's side resigned themselves to defeat.
Watford begin 2012 with a trip to Portsmouth on Tuesday while Donny welcome Barnsley to the Keepmoat.
