Watford have completed the signing of left-back Tom James on a short-term contract until January.
James has been on trial at Vicarage Road in pre-season, making appearances against Brentford and Sunderland.
Hornets' boss Sean Dyche told the club's website: "Tom's a late developer but he has shown enough over the last few weeks to warrant a deal."
The 22-year-old previously played for Midland Football Alliance side Stratford Town.
