Roy Krishna found the net in the 76th minute to rescue a point for the Wellington Phoenix in their A-League clash against the Central Coast Mariners.
The home side went close early in the game when Louis Fenton raided down the right flank and whipped a cross into the box for the run of Krishna, but headed his effort wide of the post.
The Mariners were denied the lead in the 24th minute by Glen Moss as he dove to his right to tip Glen Trifiro's powerful free kick onto the crossbar and over.
Krishna was causing the visitors all sorts of problems as he surged into the box with a run through the middle, but his low strike was well saved by Liam Reddy.
The visitors took advantage of the stop from Reddy and went ahead in the 39th minute as Matt Simon found the net, turning in a loose ball in the box past Moss.
In the second half, Krishna had a decent chance to level the scores when he found himself in space on the edge of the box, but he failed to direct his effort on target.
Simon could have doubled his and his side's tally for the game as he latched on to a through-ball and was one-on-one with Moss, but the keeper spread himself well to make the save.
However, Krishna finally got his goal when he raced o nto a long ball over the top of the Mariners defence from Michael McGlinchey and calmly slotted an effort past Reddy.
Both sides pushed for a winner late in the game, but neither could find the net again as they were forced to settle for a point apiece at Eden Park.
