West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Irvine has revealed that Brown Ideye "has a shout" of featuring against Liverpool at the weekend.
The club's record signing suffered an ankle injury during his side's League Cup tie against Hull City last month.
Reports had suggested that the Nigerian striker could be out for some time, but Irvine has claimed that the complaint is not as bad as first feared.
"Brown didn't train yesterday but he is making progress, he is improving. I am hoping he has a shout for Liverpool. He has rocked his ankle, it isn't too bad," he told the club's official website.
"These things come down to your pain tolerance levels. There are some players you can strap up and will be okay, there are some who take a little bit longer."
Ideye has scored one goal during his five appearances in all competitions this season.
