West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has revealed that he has "an edge" if he is required to show it.
Clarke was once described as 'too nice' by West Ham United's owners when he was assistant to Gianfranco Zola, but the former Chelsea coach has insisted that the claim could not be further from the truth.
Clarke told the Birmingham Mail: "I've never been called too nice before. The owners perhaps didn't know me that well.
"People who know me know there is an edge to me if necessary. You don't need to go around being a nasty guy to get that image. If I need an edge I can find an edge.
"It's not about results - it's about performances and looking at the bigger picture. If we'd lost 10 games there would be more of an edge from me."
Clarke comes up against his former club on Sunday afternoon when the Baggies host West Ham.
