Sports Mole recaps what has been a successful season for West Bromwich Albion.

Few could have predicted at the start of the season that West Bromwich Albion would enjoy such a fruitful campaign in the top half of the Premier League table.

Sports Mole runs its eye over the team's results in all competitions since the summer.

August:

The Baggies enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season as a 3-0 thumping of Liverpool on the opening day was followed by a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur. August concluded with a 4-2 victory at Yeovil Town in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

September:

After a 2-0 win over Everton at the beginning of September, West Brom were beaten for the first time in the campaign as they went down 3-0 at Fulham. They soon rallied with a victory over Reading and a draw at local rivals Aston Villa.

However, their Capital One Cup dreams were ended as Liverpool got a measure of revenge for their league defeat with a 2-1 triumph at The Hawthorns.

October:

Starting the month in sixth place in the table, West Brom climbed up into the dizzy heights of Champions League places with an entertaining 3-2 victory over Queens Park Rangers before consecutive defeats to Manchester City and Newcastle United.

November:

A busy November saw the Baggies put together their best run of the campaign with four wins on the bounce coming against Southampton, Wigan Athletic, Chelsea and Sunderland.

For all of their efforts, Steve Clarke's side failed to make it five out of five as they came undone with a 3-1 loss at Swansea City.

December:

It was soon three defeats on the bounce thanks to losses to Stoke City and Arsenal, but West Brom were able to stop the rot with a draw against West Ham and wins against Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers.

They ended the year with a trip to Manchester United which saw the champions elect run out 2-0 victors.

January:

It was an unhappy New Year due to a defeat at home to Fulham, while losses to Reading and Aston Villa came either side of a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.

The team also exited the FA Cup in the third round as they were beaten 1-0 at home to QPR in a replay after the two sides drew 1-1 in the original tie.

There was plenty of embarrassment for the club off the pitch on transfer deadline day as Peter Odemwingie tried to force through a move to QPR after driving his car down to Loftus Road with permission.

The striker was eventually turned away by officials and was subsequently suspended by West Brom for the episode.

February:

Gareth Bale was the difference when Tottenham Hotspur made the trip to The Hawthorns at the start of February as the visitors picked up a 1-0 win.

West Brom then recorded an impressive 2-0 victory at Liverpool before they saw off Sunderland 2-1.

March:

The next month was something of a mixed bag for the club as a win over Swansea came in between defeats to Chelsea, West Ham and a draw with Stoke.

April:

The Baggies were edged out 2-1 by Arsenal ahead of a draw with Newcastle and a comfortable 3-0 win at Southampton.

May:

The final month of the season has seen the club continue its winless streak with consecutive defeats to Wigan, Manchester City and Norwich, but there can be no denying that West Brom have enjoyed a stellar campaign.

They actually ended in style when during Sir Alex Ferguson's last match as Manchester United manager, the two teams played out a remarkable 5-5 draw at The Hawthorns. It was arguably the most memorable match in the Premier League era.
