The Football Association have reportedly planned to appoint West Bromwich Albion chief Dan Ashworth as the governing body's new technical director at the end of the season.
Ashworth has been a leading contender for the position at the new St George's Park football centre, with reports in August claiming that an approach was imminent.
It is understood that Ashworth has informed the Baggies that he wants to leave. However, the Premier League outfit have insisted that he completes the remainder of the season at the Hawthorns, according to The Express.
Reports have claimed that an official announcement of Ashworth's appointment is due towards the end of the week.
