West Bromwich Albion midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu has admitted that he is excited by the arrival of new manager Pepe Mel.
The 50-year-old Spanish coach joined the Baggies last week following the sacking of previous boss Steve Clarke.
Mulumbu is now hopeful that Mel can improve the team after taking his first training session with the players on Tuesday.
"I am quite excited. We just need the confidence and we know we can be a good side," he told the Birmingham Mail.
"It was a good session. I'm not worried. He wants to play football with the good players we have. We haven't changed many things. We just need the confidence to show we have good players and a good team."
Mel takes charge of West Brom for the first time on Monday when they play host to Everton in the Premier League.
