West Bromwich Albion defender Liam Ridgewell believes that the Baggies fully merit their lofty position in the Premier League.
Steve Clarke's side continued their strong start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Southampton on Monday, a win that saw them move to fifth place in the table.
Ridgewell insisted that nobody at The Hawthorns will get carried away, with securing 40 points and top-flight survival still the number one priority.
He told the club's official website: "I think we deserve to be there. In fact, I think we deserve to have even more points, to be honest.
"We've done really well but the main thing is to keep that going and show people it's not just the start of the season.
"We know what we're all about and everyone connected with the club is very level-headed. The only people getting carried away with it will be people outside the camp."
West Brom continue their campaign with a trip to face Wigan Athletic this weekend.
