Alan Pardew: 'West Bromwich Albion must battle on'

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew admits that his side are getting close to "last chance saloon" following their late 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth.

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew has admitted that his side "needed" to get something from their Premier League clash with Bournemouth this afternoon.

The Baggies looked to be on course for only a fourth win of the season when Jay Rodriguez gave them the lead at Dean Court, but late strikes from Jordon Ibe and Junior Stanislas condemned the Premier League's basement club to a seventh consecutive defeat.

West Brom now sit 10 points from safety with only seven games of the campaign remaining, but Pardew insists that his side will continue to battle on.

"Tough for us today, tough for my players in particular because in terms of the game plan and delivering it, I couldn't really ask for any more. We got ourselves in a great position, made a couple of errors and got punished for it. That's kind of the story of our season a little but it was galling today because obviously without it being our last chance, it's getting near last chance saloon," he told reporters.

"We needed to get something today. It's such a galling way to end the game. If you look at our record since the start of the year, then you would have to say yes. Of course, we have to keep battling on.

"I think anybody who was here today - even our harshest critic - would say that there was good belief in the team to try and get a victory. That performance could easily have been a win, unfortunately for us it wasn't."

West Brom must still face four of the top seven in their final seven games of the season.
