Rickie Lambert scored twice on his debut as West Bromwich Albion cruised to a 4-0 victory over Bristol Rovers in their final pre-season friendly this evening.
Matt Taylor came close for the hosts in the opening minutes, but he could only drag his effort wide of the target.
The visitors then opened the scoring midway through the first half when Lambert's strike from range deflected off Tom Parkes and left Steve Mildenhall stranded as it found the back of the net.
Craig Gardner added a second goal for the Baggies in the 34th minute when he latched on to Chris Brunt's through-ball and fired an effort past the keeper.
The Baggies held on to their lead going into the break and within a minute of the second half they grabbed a third goal when Lambert slotted in from James McClean's cross.
With 13 minutes left to play Victor Anichebe made it four with a powerful volley to put the seal on a comfortable night for the visitors.
