West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew calls for unity in relegation scrap

Alan Pardew asks West Bromwich Albion fans to turn up in their numbers for next weekend's home clash against Leicester City, with time running out to collect points.

Alan Pardew has urged West Bromwich Albion supporters to continue to back their side as they attempt to salvage their Premier League status.

The Baggies find themselves eight points adrift of safety with just nine games left to play after losing five top-flight matches on the spin.

Under-fire boss Pardew was happy with his side's overall display in their 1-0 defeat at Watford on Saturday, but admits that wins are now desperately needed, starting with the visit of Leicester City to The Hawthorns next weekend.

"The mood of our stadium next week can only be one thing for us and hopefully the fans will stay with us," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.

"Although 30,000 of our fans were not at Watford because it was an away game - we appreciate the 2,000 that travelled - they have to come in a positive mode to The Hawthorns for us because that is the only chance we have got.

"The only chance we have got is to stick together and I said that to the players afterwards. So, hopefully our fans stay with us and next week we reward them with a win."

West Brom are on their worst league run since January 2011 and have just three league wins from 38 matches since March 2017.
