Tony Pulis hopes to keep Saido Berahino at West Bromwich Albion

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis admits that Saido Berahino will have the final say over his future, but is hopeful that the striker will remain at The Hawthorns.

Tony Pulis has urged striker Saido Berahino to make the right choice over his future by staying at West Bromwich Albion for the long term.

The 23-year-old has featured sparingly this season due to injury and fitness concerns, starting just three Premier League games and featuring fives times overall in all competitions.

Pulis recently sent the former England Under-21s ace to a training camp in France in an attempt to get him back to peak fitness, but Berahino still has yet to feature upon returning to The Hawthorns.

Despite the lack of playing time, Pulis is not looking to cash in on Berahino - an £18m target for Tottenham Hotspur 18 months ago - when the transfer window opens next month.

"There were deals before but it didn't suit us and so it wasn't done," he told reporters. "You have to remember there are three parties involved who have to be satisfied – the player, the buying club and the selling club.

"I'm hoping he will stay but we will see. There will be people talking to him but it's up to him to work those people out. He's big enough now to make decisions for himself but, fingers crossed, he will stay here."

Berahino was also on the radar of Stoke City during the summer, while Italian clubs Roma and Inter Milan are understood to be lining up a New Year bid.
