West Bromwich Albion have tonight broken their transfer record to complete a deal for Stephane Sessegnon, for a fee believed to be in the region of £6m.
The 29-year-old arrives at The Hawthorns from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee, which has been confirmed by the Baggies to have beaten their previous transfer record of around £4.8m for Shane Long.
Sessegnon passed a medical this afternoon and will wear number 29 for West Brom, ending a three-year stay on Wearside, which saw him score 18 goals in 97 appearances.
Baggies boss Steve Clarke has handed Sessegnon a three-year contract in the Midlands, adding creative impetus to a side that has failed to score in three Premier League games so far this season.
