West Bromwich Albion caretaker manager Keith Downing has revealed that the club are in talks with striker Shane Long over a new deal at The Hawthorns.
Long has been linked with a move to Hull City, with Tigers boss Steve Bruce admitting that he is keen to sign the Republic of Ireland international, but Downing has insisted that he is confident of keeping him in the West Midlands.
The 48-year-old told the Daily Star: "We are treating it that Shane is very much part of the squad here.
"The club are actively trying to get him to sign a new deal and we're quite confident of keeping him."
Long has scored three goals in 15 appearances for the Baggies this season.
