West Bromwich Albion have rejected a transfer request from striker Saido Berahino.
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to White Hart Lane after finding the net 20 times last season.
Reports surfaced on Monday morning suggesting that the Lilywhites were ready to table a £21m offer for the England Under-21s star, having made a stuttering start to the Premier League season.
It was also suggested that Berahino was ready to push through a transfer, with West Brom now moving to clarify the situation.
"West Bromwich Albion have received a written transfer request from Saido Berahino," an Albion statement read. "The request has been rejected and the club's position remains unchanged from that outlined in the statement from chairman Jeremy Peace of August 18."
Peace categorically stated that the Baggies had no intention of selling the 22-year-old, regardless of the offer made.
