Carl Jenkinson has praised his defence-minded West Ham United teammates following the 1-0 victory over Bristol City in the FA Cup.
The Hammers frustrated the League One side with a stubborn defensive display before clinching a spot in the fifth round thanks to Diafra Sakho's winner, and Jenkinson was quick to underline the importance of the team's work at the back.
"It was always going to be that sort of FA Cup tie," the 22-year-old, who is on loan at the club from Arsenal, told West Ham's official website. "It was very important to keep a clean sheet - we did that and scored a great goal.
"As a defender it's always nice to keep the ball out of the net - we've got a strong defensive unit now. That's not just the keeper and the back four but the midfield's doing a good job as well.
"We have a good understanding. We're doing well defensively at the moment and that's a good sign."
West Ham's fifth-round opponents will be revealed when the draw is made on Monday evening.
