Romelu Lukaku's goal shortly before half time has brought Everton back level at 1-1 with West Ham United after Manuel Lanzini's opener.
Victor Moses had a sight of goal inside the opening three minutes as he capitalised on a slip by Brendan Galloway, but the winger flashed his shot into the side-netting.
However, Everton almost got their noses in front a few moments later as Adrian miscued a punch from Arouna Kone's cross, but the Spanish goalkeeper did just enough to put off the lurking Lukaku.
Ross Barkley then fired at Adrian before Lanzini sliced a shot wide of the near post as both sides worked chances for themselves in the opening 20 minutes.
Everton almost caught the hosts napping with a quickly-taken free kick after 20 minutes, but Kone smashed his shot wide from 20 yards.
At the other end, Aaron Cresswell curled an attempt inches wide of the upright with Tim Howard off his line.
Less than a minute after Gerard Deulofeu's low shot was saved by Adrian, Lanzini directed the ball into the top corner from inside the area to put West Ham 1-0 up.
However, Lukaku struck back with half time approaching as he calmly rounded Adrian before slotting the ball into an empty net.
