West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell has been ruled out for up to four months with a knee ligament injury.
The 26-year-old had to be substituted in the 87th minute of his side's 3-0 pre-season win over Karlsruher SC following a two-footed challenge from an opposition midfielder.
"Whatever course of action we decide to take, Aaron faces a period of rest, followed by treatment and rehabilitation and he will be out for a period of between three and four months," West Ham head of medical and sports science Stijn Vandenbroucke told Eurosport.
Cresswell, who joined from Ipswich Town in 2014, played in 37 league games as the East London side finished seventh last season.
