West Ham United defender Arthur Masuaku has been banned for six matches after spitting at a Wigan Athletic player during the FA Cup tie between the teams on Saturday.
At the start of the second half at the DW Stadium, Masuaku reacted to a tackle from Nick Powell and was given a red card by the referee, with manager David Moyes later describing his player's actions as "despicable".
On Sunday, Masuaku took to social media to apologise for his behaviour, but the Football Association has confirmed that the mandatory six-match ban will be enforced.
The 24-year-old will not be allowed to return to action until March 18, when the Hammers host Manchester United at the London Stadium.
Masuaku - who has made 25 appearances in all competitions this season - will miss Premier League games against Crystal Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion, Watford, Liverpool, Swansea City and Burnley respectively.
