West Ham United secure a 3-1 win against German side Hamburg in a pre-season friendly.

Goals from Alou Diarra, James Tomkins and Ravel Morrison gave West Ham United a 3-1 win against German side Hamburg at the Flensburger Stadium.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce named an experienced side for the pre-season clash, with Kevin Nolan, Matt Jarvis, Tomkins and Razvan Rat all selected from the start.

Hamburg, meanwhile, had former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rafael van der Vaart in their starting lineup.

The Hammers took the lead after 15 minutes when Diarra flicked a Jarvis corner into the back of the net from close range.

Milan Badelj came close to making it 1-1 moments later, but Stephen Henderson darted across his goal to make a fine save.

The English outfit doubled their lead moments before the half-hour mark, however, when Tomkins rose inside the box before thumping a powerful header into the back of the net.

The home side did cut the deficit to 2-1 after 43 minutes courtesy of a header from Heiko Westermann, but a Morrison penalty quickly moved the London outfit two goals ahead once more.

Hamburg almost reduced the deficit within minutes of the restart, but Stephen Henderson sprawled to his left to tip Ivo Ilicevic's free kick onto the post.

At the other end, Jarvis wrong-footed Jaroslav Drobny in the Hamburg goal, but the winger's effort bounced back off the upright.

Both sides made a number of changes as the half wore on, with West Ham holding on to secure a comfortable against their German opponents.
