West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has reportedly identified Porto striker Silvestre Varela in his search for a new striker at Upton Park.
The 58-year-old has already secured the permanent transfer of Andy Carroll from Liverpool but is said to be eager to add to his attacking options before the transfer window closes in September.
A deal for Saloman Kalou collapsed when Allardyce could not guarantee him a central role but, according to talkSPORT, the Hammers boss is now ready to move for Varela.
The Portuguese international, who has found first-team football hard to come by at the Estadio do Dragao, scored five goals in 19 starts last season.
Porto are thought to value him at around £6.5m.
