Roberto Martinez has said that Wigan Athletic's run in the FA Cup has helped increase competition for places in his side during Premier League games.
The Latics beat Everton 3-0 earlier today to secure a place in the last four of the competition, but they have slipped into the relegation places in the league table.
The Wigan manager told Sky Sports News: "If anything this cup run has given us extra players. I think Callum McManaman showed he is ready to play in the league and Joel Robles showed a great level of performance.
"This cup success is bringing extra competition into the league campaign and that is what we need to get from this success.
"Making nine or 10 changes is a need in the modern game. The difference now is this season we have a group of 24 players who have shown when they get the opportunity they are competitive."
Wigan have just one win in their last six Premier League matches.
