Wigan Athletic manager Owen Coyle has said that his players were inspired during their 2-1 comeback win against Blackburn Rovers this afternoon and cited comparisons with the performance of Wigan Warriors, who came back from 14 points down to win the rugby Super League final yesterday.
Coyle's men were trailing at half time thanks to a goal from Tommy Spurr, but second-half goals from Grant Holt and Emmerson Boyce gave Wigan a 2-1 victory.
"We all watched last night and it was inspirational when you see the comeback," said Coyle to Sky Sports News. "We've shown that on the football side this year, the amount of points we've retrieved from losing positions.
"It tells you everything about the character and the spirit you've got at your club. People will always talk when they're winning games about how good the spirit is, that comes hand in hand, but the testimony to any team spirit and camaraderie is when your team is up against it.
"You saw it last night in the rugby league, that comeback was amazing, and again today the lads showed a lot of good attributes there that really pleased me."
Wigan currently occupy 12th position in the Championship table.
