Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has insisted that he has received no approaches for the services of his manager Roberto Martinez.
The Spanish boss is currently one of the favourites to take over at Aston Villa, who are looking for a new manager following their decision to sack Alex McLeish yesterday afternoon.
"We haven't received any notification at all that Aston Villa want to talk to him for this particular job that is going," Whelan told Sky Sports News. "Roberto and I have a complete understanding where we trust each other implicitly.
"If anything comes up Roberto will come and see me and I will be the first to know."
Villa were believed to be keen to appoint Martinez last summer before they eventually decided upon McLeish.
