Wigan Athletic suffered a 2-1 pre-season friendly loss at League One Rochdale this afternoon, with all the goals coming in the opening 45 minutes.
Ian Henderson gave the home side the lead after just five minutes with an audacious lob from a tight angle.
Half an hour later, Bastien Hery made it 2-0 with a neat finish following a clever one-two with a teammate.
With just a minute to go until the break, Wigan's James Tavernier crashed a long-range strike into the back of the net via the underside of the bar to reduce the deficit.
After the interval, Tim Chow had two chances to put Wigan level, but his lob was beaten away by Josh Lillis and the youngster's second effort rolled harmlessly wide.
At the other end, Scott Carson made two good saves to deny Callum Camps and Joe Bunney in quick succession.
The final chance of the game fell to Gary Caldwell, but the veteran defender couldn't divert his header on target.
