Wolverhampton Wanderers skipper Danny Batth describes new manager Walter Zenga as "very enthusiastic and well-motivated".

Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Danny Batth has described new manager Walter Zenga as "very enthusiastic and well-motivated".

The Italian replaced Kenny Jackett at the helm of the Championship side on Saturday, just a week after the club's takeover by Chinese conglomerate Fosun International.

The managerial switch ended weeks of uncertainty over Jackett's future and, according to Batth, the team now have a "new impetus" as they look for promotion back to the Premier League this term.

"We've had a brief chat. He's come in and introduced himself, he's very enthusiastic and well-motivated for this job," Batth told the club's official website. "Obviously this week we'll learn a lot more about what that involves on the pitch. He's obviously got huge playing experience and is well travelled and knows different leagues and players. Coming to the Championship I'm sure he'll be determined to do well.

"We're starting to see what's in front of us now. We've got a new manager and new impetus. We've got a week before [the season starts] and we'll take on board what the new boss is saying and make sure we implement his style and philosophy on the team, and that we're hard to beat as well.

"It's a big change but it's also exciting. We move on this season, we start afresh. I'm certainly looking forward to it."

Wolves open their Championship campaign with a trip to Rotherham United on Saturday.
