Kenny Jackett bemused by pitch invasions

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett cites "enthusiasm" as the reason why there were three pitch invasions during the 6-4 win over Rotherham on Friday.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Kenny Jackett has cited "enthusiasm" as the reason why there were a number of pitch invasions during the 6-4 win over Rotherham United on Friday.

Jackett's men moved a step closer to securing the League One title after edging a dramatic 10-goal thriller at Molineux, which was slightly marred by supporters running onto the field in three separate incidents.

The encounter saw Wolves record an attendance of over 30,000 - their highest total for 33 years - and Jackett believes that the figures played a part in the behaviour of the fans.

"That is all it was, enthusiasm," the coach told reporters. "There was a great atmosphere and the highest attendance for more than 30 years, which we should all be proud of and we sent them away with a win.

"It is very unusual. I don't know what brought it on. Sometimes you see a pitch invasion on the last day of the season and you can see that building up at the end.

"All I can put it down to is such a high attendance, the fact we are chasing the title and the enthusiasm of our crowd."

Nouha Dicko and Kieran Agard both struck hat-tricks in the goal-fest in the West Midlands.
